Our outstanding students from Year 10 were chosen to compete in the ‘Future Opportunities Challenge’ at Holy Cross College. They rose to the challenge with an array of innovative ideas and some superb teamwork.
The challenge involved groups, consisting of multiple schools, competing on four projects. Some students worked on an ethical app, others used their geography skills designing a wind farm, the ‘Big Cheese’ project involved scientific testing in the labs and the fitness app explored their knowledge and application of health and well being.
Skillful student project managers guided their teams to success as market research, financial capability and their ability to successfully make, present and market the product all had to work together if they were to scoop the top prizes.
The Derby had many winners but the two day experience allowed all our students to gel with members of other schools and create something really special.
Holy Cross mentors played a valuable role in supporting the students
The students said:
“It was fantastic to meet new people. We learned lots of transferable skills. Oh, and the cookies were amazing!”
“We left feeling we had been part of an event that was exciting”
What a great advert for the college and this programme!
